How to work in Family Mart? (1. Important words)|
1. Greeting(挨拶)
1.1 To colleagues(先輩、店長などへの挨拶)
Entering the store:
「〇〇〇〇」is an optional part that can be said or not said.
「〇〇〇〇」 can be 「〇〇店長さん、〇〇さん、〇〇」and so on.
Leaving the store:
You must say this before you leave. It will make a terrible impression if you don't say it.
1.2 To Customers(お客様への挨拶)
When customers enter the store. You must say:
「〇〇〇〇」is an optional part that can be said or not said.
「〇〇〇〇」 can be 「おはようございます・こんにちは・こんばんは」, but it is generally not said because if there are too many customers that we have no time to finish these words, so we basically just say the first sentence.
When customers leave the store. You must say:
The second half of the sentence is usually unsaid because customers can't hear it then.
2. Cashier(レジの仕事)
1.1 Sentences(お客様への会話)
Before accounting(会計前)
But you can use it because you are a foreigner.
But you can use it because you are a foreigner.
「レジ袋はご利用ですか?」(〇)right but too long.
Then I think it's really unnecessary to ask 「ポイントカードはお持ちですか」 because the machine will make the same sound. But if you want to make sure, it's OK to ask.
But in fact, you have to look at the customer's behavior. If the customer has already taken out his point card, it would be like a fool to ask again.
When you understand the customer's requirements:
「わかりました」(X)implite.
This is an essential thing. You can't have no reply to the customer. And the response must be polite.

When you need to get shoppers to press the button(お客様がボタンを押す必要がある場合)
If the customer presses the button, you must press the confirmation button. Then you can continue the other operations below.
Customers actually know that they need to press the button without your saying.
When taking the money:
「〇〇〇〇円、お預かりいたします」
When change is not needed:
「〇〇〇〇円、ちょうどお預かりいたします」
When giving the change and returning the receipt:
「〇〇〇〇円、お返しします」
「レシート、お返しします」
When the customer leaves:
「ありがとうございました、またお越しくださいませ」
It doesn't matter whether you say the second sentence or not. But if you keep saying too much, your throat will hurt. My three-hour part-time work has already been like this.
3. Things&Services that cannot give points(ポイントが得られないもの)
When customers buy these, don't ask whether they use point cards. Because these things can't give customers points.
1. Cigarettes(タバコ)
Cigarettes are the only kind of commodities that cannot give points.
This is because it is sold in stores, and the stores rely on it for income. But I don't know why they can't give points. Maybe it's because they are too expensive or Japanese laws.
2. Various paper bills(請求書)
- Water cost/bill
- Gas cost/bill
- Electricity (power) cost/bill
- Utility cost/bill
and so on.
...
These services are convenience stores that help you pay your bills to other companies(Such as 東京水道局、日本ガス株式会社など), so you can't get points.
3. POSA cards「Point of Sales Activation」
- 「Google Play Gift Card」
- 「Apple Gift Card」
- 「Amazon Gift Card」
- 「Rakuten Gift Card」
- 「Netflix Gift Card」
- 「Steam Gift Card」
and so on.
...
They cannot be the store's income, so they cannot be given points.
4. Various Charge
- Vandle Card Charge
- FamiPay Charge
and so on.
...
Also, they cannot be the store's direct income, so they cannot be given points.
4. Last But Not Least
In fact, there is an お客様へのあいさつ's paper on the wall in Family Mart's Office, but I don't think it is applicable, so I didn't post it on this blog at the very beginning.
Why is it not applicable?
For example,
You should have learned these three sentences in a language school or yourself.
Otherwise, how did you get hired by the convenience store?
